CLINTON - The city of Clinton has a new partner to fight crime.
"Charlie" is the city's new K-9 unit, a black Labrador retriever that specializes in drug detection.
She is replacing former K-9 "Lasko," who was retired last year after an unsuccessful recovery from an ACL tear.
"Lucky for us, we have generous organizations like Exelon to help ease the financial pain fo replacing him," said Clinton Police Chief Ben Lowers.
Exelon contributed $3,000 to purchase the new crime-fighting dog. Charlie has been on the beat since August 19. She is certified in narcotics detection, but will not take part in apprehending suspects.
