Chatham Family Receives Toyota Donation

Posted: Updated:

SPRINGFIELD – National website chivecharities.org and Green Toyota are partnering to deliver a new Toyota Sienna to a family in Chatham on Saturday, September 19.

Chive Charities is a non-profit organization which inspires its parent company theCHIVE’s online community to champion orphaned causes in need of public awareness and financial assistance.

The organization is donating to the Clemence family in Chatham, Illinois. Six-year-old Lizzy and four-year-old Mason Clemence have a rare genetic disorder called Ligase IV Deficiency. This disorder affects their immune systems. Both children have undergone bone marrow transplants.

Due to this being a rare and complex disorder, with only 16 known cases worldwide, the family frequently travels to Cincinnati Children’s Hospital for doctor appointments for Mason.

Sunday, September 20, Mason and his mother Kelly will travel to the hospital in Cincinnati for a minimum of six months so Mason can begin a lifesaving treatment called photopheresis.

Lizzy will stay at home with dad Jeff, so she can attend school and Jeff can work.

Green Toyota will be delivering the van for the family’s use as well as an additional $1,000, a car seat and other items.

Additional information about the Clemence family can be found here.
