College Presidents call for end to stalemate

Urbana- The presidents of the nine public universities in the state are urging an end to the state budget stalemate. The presidents in a letter to the governor and lawmakers say uncertainty over the level of state funding for their universities is beginning to damage their ability to teach and do research. The presidents also say students and employees are wondering if Illinois is the best place to be.  The state has been without a new budget for three months. University of Illinois President Timothy Killeen calls the situation unsustainable.
