Second "Prayers for Paws" event scheduled for October 24

Posted:

SPRINGFIELD - The Helping Paw Project has announced its second annual Prayers for Paws event will be held on October 24.

This event will be held in Washington Park in Springfield at 10:00 a.m.  Officials say Prayers for Paws is being held to help increase awareness of the problems that abandoned elderly dogs face.

The Helping Paw Project was founded in 2013 to help individuals who wish to adopt elderly dogs.  The program helps with the unanticipated medical needs that owners of elderly pets may face, and is the only program of its kind in central Illinois.

The organization has helped more than 100 dogs since its establishment.
