Macon County Receives Financial Reporting Award

Posted: Updated:

MACON COUNTY – The Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada (GFOA) announces Macon County has been awarded a certificate of achievement in financial reporting.

The association has rewarded the county the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting for its comprehensive annual financial report (CAFR). This certificate is the highest form of recognition in the area for government accounting and financial reporting. Its attainment represents a significant accomplishment by a government and its management.

An award of Financial Reporting Achievement has been given to the individual(s), department or agency designated to be responsible for preparing the report.

For Macon County, that individual is Auditor Carol A. Reed.

The CAFR was judged by an impartial panel to meet the high standards of the program, including demonstrating a constructive “spirit of full disclosure” to clearly communicate its financial story and motivate potential users and user groups to read the CAFR.
