SPRINGFIELD - A collaboration of health care organizations in Springfield scored top honors at an international meeting for health care leaders.
The International Hospital Federation presented representatives from Southern Illinois University School of Medicine and Memorial Health System with first prize for best presentation.
The study is called "Improving the Success of Strategic Management Using Big Data." It took an in-depth look at how such data could be used to personalize health care.
"This is a huge accomplishment for Memorial and SIU." said said Sapan Desai, MD, PhD, MBA, vice chair of research in the Department of Surgery at SIU, co-chair of SOAR and member of the MHQA board of directors. "The international recognition for the pioneering work that goes on at SIU and Memorial Health System tells us that we are making a difference."
