Change your Clocks, Change your Batteries

Posted: Updated:

CENTRAL ILLINOIS - Change your Clocks and Change your Batteries. That's the word from the Champaign Fire Department as Daylight Saving Time ends Sunday. Champaign Fire Chief Gary Ludwig says working smoke detectors save lives and cuts the risk of dying in a home fire in half. So when you "fall back" Sunday by setting your clocks back one hour remember to change batteries in smoke and carbon monoxide detectors.  Chief Ludwig says remember you should have a smoke alarm in every sleeping room, outside of each sleeping area and on every level of your home including the basement. Roughly half of home fire deaths happen between the hours of 11p.m. and 7 a.m.  If a fire does happen go outside quickly to a pre arranged meeting place with your family. There should be two ways out of every room. Also Wand TV Chief Meteorologist J.C. Fultz says it's also a good idea to change the batteries in your NOAA Weather Radio.
