Halloween DUI Crackdown

Posted: Updated:

Decatur, IL-- Decatur Police this Halloween will be conducting an aggressive Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over enforcement effort. Sgt. Chris Peters says the message is clear keep the party off the road. He says if you want to stay safe and out of jail this Halloween, make a plan to get home without driving if you are impaired. Even if you are impaired and aren't killed or seriously injured you could end up paying as much as $18,000 for a DUI. The drive sober or get pulled over enforcement campaign has these simple tips. Plan a safe way to get home before you attend a party. Designate a sober driver or call a cab or sober family member. Report any impaired drivers on the road. And if you see someone about to drive who is impaired take the keys and help them get home safely. The crackdown is funded by federal traffic safety funds through the Illinois Department of Transportation.
