American Lung Association raising awareness of lung cancer

Posted: Updated:

SPRINGFIELD - The American Lung Association says it is encouraging Illinois residents to learn more about lung cancer throughout the month of November.

Officials say November is recognized as Lung Cancer Awareness Month.  Officials also say lung cancer kills more men and women than any other cancer, and that awareness of this deadly condition among women remains low.  Additionally, only 17 percent

In response, the American Lung Association launched a nationwide awareness initiative named "LUNG FORCE," aimed at uniting women in the fight against lung cancer.  Through LUNG FORCE, officials say $5 million will be invested in increasing public health promotion, and $10 million will be invested in lung cancer research over five years.
