Public transit service expands into Christian County

Posted:

TAYLORVILLE-A multi-county public transit program is adding services in Christian County starting this week.

Central Illinois Public Transit already served Clay, Effingham, Fayette, Montgomery, Moultrie and Shelby Counties, offering door-to-door transportation by appointment. The service is funded by federal and state agencies.

To mark their new service in Christian County, the program is holding two open houses. The first open house, at the Greater Taylorville Chamber of Commerce, runs from 9 to 11 Thursday morning with a ribbon cutting at 10:30. The second, at Pana Community Hospital, runs from 1 to 3 Thursday afternoon, with a ribbon cutting at 2.
