Decatur Township changing from cash benefits to voucher program

Posted: Updated:

DECATUR - Decatur Township officials say they will be making a change in the way they serve General Assistance clients, beginning January 1, 2016.

Officials say they will change to a voucher program next year.  Currently, individuals and families in the General Assistance program receive cash benefits.  Those individuals and families will have the option in determining where their vouchers will be disbursed by talking with their caseworkers when they pick up their December checks.

Officials also say a report will be generated each month to show how many clients were served, and how many vouchers were given out.  We will provide more information as it becomes available.
