SPRINGFIELD - Members of the American Federation of State, County, and Municipal Employees say they will participate in a rally in Springfield Thursday evening to request an agreement on a state budget.

The rally, scheduled to begin at the Prairie Capital Convention Center at 5:30 p.m., is one of seven "Rallies for Fairness" planned by AFSCME officials.  Other rallies have been held in Chicago, Rockford, Joliet, the Quad Cities, and in Southern Illinois.

AFSCME officials say they hope their efforts result in Governor Bruce Rauner and state lawmakers agreeing to a state budget.  Featured speakers at this rally include State Senators Andy Manar and Sam McCann, Illinois NAACP President Teresa Haley, and AFSCME Council 31 Executive Director Roberta Lynch, among others.
