No Overtime Pay for In-Home Healthcare Workers

Posted: Updated:

ILLINOIS - The Illinois state budget impasse will prevent overtime pay for healthcare workers, who care for disabled residents in their homes.

A federal rule that took effect at the start of the year, requires time and a half pay for work over 40 hours.  But that pay will be prohibited, after March 1st, by the state because of the budget crisis.

SEIU Healthcare Illinois says patient care will suffer and additional help will not be readily available.
