Governor Rauner Set Sights on Reduction of Illinois Inmates

SPRINGFIELD - Governor Rauner wants to reduce the number of inmates in Illinois’ overcrowded prison system, within the next 10 years.

The governor says it's an area he's willing to devote money to, at a time when he's also urging lawmakers to be prudent with spending.

Analysts say reforming the state's criminal justice system presents a rare opportunity for the governor, to find agreement with lawmakers.
