DECATUR - The Decatur Fire Department says one person was injured and a home was moderately damaged in a Monday night house fire on the city's east side.

Fire officials say firefighters were dispatched to a duplex in the 3500 block of Gunnar Court at about 9:21 p.m.  Upon arriving, crews say they saw heavy fire coming from the front of the building, and that the home's occupant had already gotten out of the building.

Officials say the fire appears to have started in a bedroom, and was confined to that bedroom.  Crew worked to ensure that the fire did not spread to the adjoining residence.  The official cause and origin of the fire are still under investigation.

Firefighters say the fire cause about $34,000 in damage to the structure, and about $15,000 in damage to the home's contents.  Additionally, the occupant had suffered burns on her hands, and was taken to a local hospital for treatment.
