ISP to conduct Roadside Safety Checks in Macon Co. in March

MACON COUNTY – Illinois State Police District 10 Commander, Captain Louis Kink announces troopers will be conducting Roadside Safety Checks in Macon County during the month of March.

Those working these details will be on the lookout for a number of violations. They will be watchful for drivers who are operating unsafe vehicles, driving with a suspended or revoke driver’s license, transporting open alcoholic beverages or driving under the influence.

According to the Illinois State Police, alcohol and drug impairment remain a significant factor in over 40 percent of all fatal motor vehicle crashes in Illinois.

These safety checks are designed to keep the state’s roads safe by taking DUI offenders off the road.

The Roadside Safety Checks are funded through a grant from the United States Department of Transportation, National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. That grant is administered by the Illinois Department of Transportation, Division of Transportation Safety.
