Warrensburg man facing multiple methamphetamine-related charges

WARRENSBURG - The Decatur Police Department says a Warrensburg man has been arrested on multiple methamphetamine-related charges, and a juvenile was taken to the hospital, following the search of a home on February 10.

Decatur police say members of the Macon County Sheriff's Department, Decatur Police Department Street Crimes Unit, Macon County Special Response Team, and Decatur Police Department Emergency Response team executed a search warrant at a home on West Warren Street in Warrensburg.

Authorities say a man, identified as Toby McDermith, and a juvenile relative were found inside the home at the time of the search.  Decatur police say detectives allegedly found methamphetamine, as well as several precursors used to manufacture methamphetamine.  The Illinois State Police Meth Response Team was called to the scene, and determined areas of the property to be potentially contaminated.

Decatur police also say the home is located near a park and elementary school, and that the juvenile was taken to a nearby hospital to be treated for possible methamphetamine exposure.

McDermith is facing preliminary charges of aggravated participation in meth manufacturing, possession of a meth precursor in standard dosage form, possession of meth manufacturing materials, use of property to violate meth control act, and disposal of meth manufacturing waste.

This incident is still under investigation by the Decatur Police Department.  We will provide more information as it becomes available.
