County Clerk's office open Friday and Monday


Decatur- The Macon County Clerk's office will be open to voters Friday and Monday. County Clerk Steve Bean says , "even though stat and other county offices may be closed on February 12th and 15th; the Macon County Clerk's Voter Registration and Election office will be open from 8:30am to 4:30pm both days. Bean says, "Under the new early voting laws counties over 100,000 in population must remain open on all holidays during the Early Voting Period." Traditional Voter Registration ends on February16th. To register to vote you must present two forms of identification. One must have your current address. Bean says, "Beginning February 17th through March 15th Primary Election Day is Grace Period Voter Registration and Voting if you missed traditional voter registration deadline you can register to vote and vote at the same time the County Clerk's Office at 141 South Main Street Room 119. On Election Day you can register to vote at the polling locations. You can call 424-3109 or 424-1333 for more information or visit the Macon County website. The Sangamon County Election Office will also be open Friday and Monday from 8:30am to 4:30pm location in room 105 of the County Complex at 200 S. ninth street.
