CHAMPAIGN COUNTY - The Urbana Police Department is seeking the public's help in its investigation into several thefts of credit and debit cards, and subsequent unauthorized purchases on those cards.

Urbana police say the first incident happened at Carle Hospital at about 3:21 p.m. on January 12.  Authorities say a black female, about 45-55 years of age and wearing a dark cap, dark coat, sunglasses, knee-high boots, and tan pants, stole a wallet from an unoccupied office at the hospital.  Police say the same woman went to the Champaign Target store at about 4:28 p.m., where nearly $1,000 in purchases were made.  Police also say other purchases were made in rapid succession at Walmart and Meijer.

Urbana police say the second incident happened at a Presence Hospital break room at about 5:00 p.m. on January 29.  Police say the same woman, now wearing a pink coat, tan hat, jeans, and black mid-calf length UGG-type boots, removed a wallet from an unattended purse.  Authorities say the woman made purchases at Lowe's and Target beginning at 5:31 p.m., resulting in more than $500 being spent on the stolen credit/debit cards.

Police say the woman was seen entering and exiting a tan or gold Chevrolet SUV on the passenger side in both incidents.  If you have any information on these incidents, you are asked to call Crime Stoppers at (217) 373-8477.  We will provide more information as it becomes available.
