Champaign County observing week focused on Saving and Financial Goals
CHAMPAIGN – Community partners across Champaign County will be promoting savings and reaching financial goals during Champaign County Saves Week.
The University of Illinois Extension and other community partners will be spreading messages of saving money and urging people to make savings automatic as part of Champaign County Saves Week, which takes place from February 22 – 27.
“Research shows that it’s important to build a savings habit for financial well-being. Starting to save is more important than the amount you save initially,” say U of I Extension educator Kathy Sweedler.
University of Illinois Extension officials say building wealth starts when you set a goal and make a plan to reach that goal. They encourage developing a saving strategy and taking one step at a time. It is important, they say, to start small but think by setting goals, tracking spending and taking control of your financial future.
Those interested in participating in Champaign County Saves can make a pledge at their website. Each person who makes a financial plan through the website during the allotted week will be entered into drawings to win gift cards.
