Springfield-- Counterfeit $100 bills are being passed around the Springfield area. The Springfield Police Department took four reports of counterfeit one hundred dollar bills.
The businesses that ended up with the fake money were JC Penney, Citi-Trend, Qdoba, and Auto Zone. Those businesses ended up being out the amount of the fake money.
Police say businesses should be very careful when given a hundred dollar bill. Springfield police are investigating the crime and at this time aren't sure if the same person used the fake bills.
