Philanthropist Donates Millions to Restore Lincoln Memorial
WASHINGTON D.C. - The Lincoln memorial in Washington D.C. will be getting a makeover.
Thanks to philanthropist and CEO of the Carlyle group, David Rubenstein, the memorial will get an $18.5 million dollar restoration. He’s donated millions of dollars to refurbish other national treasures at the nation’s capital, in the past.
Rubenstein’s admiration for Lincoln is what moved him to donate.
This gift will be used to fix the memorial's roof, clean the marble and improve accessibility by adding another elevator.
