Ameren donates funds to DMCOC for Customer’s Energy Bills

Posted: Updated:

DECATUR – Ameren Illinois President Richard Mark announced that the company donated $50,000 to Decatur-Macon County Opportunities Corporation (DMCOC) to help customers with their energy bills.

DMCOC will use the Ameren Illinois grant to help households who are 150 percent of the 2015 Federal Poverty Guidelines. Grants will be available to local residents who meet Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) eligibility guidelines.

Mark says many customers, particularly those in lower-income areas, are seeking relief to pay their energy bills.

The grant to DMCOC is part of 1 million in energy assistance that Ameren Illinois is awarding to 26 agencies to help income-qualified customers with their energy bills. In 2015, Ameren Illinois donated $1 million to military families, seniors, low-income customers and social service organizations to help them offset their energy costs.

Other Ameren Illinois programs that help customers with bill payment and financial support include: Warm Neighbors Cool Friends, Energy Efficiency incentives and Budget Billing.

More information about the Ameren Illinois grant is available by calling DMCOC at 217-428-2191.
