SPRINGFIELD – State Senator Andy Manar says the state funding formula for schools needs fixed.
The Democrat from Bunker Hill says, “While I acknowledge the governor’s intent to fully fund schools, the governor should acknowledge that an increase in dollars doesn’t distinguish his leadership from the mistakes of the past when it comes to education funding. We can’t afford to go another year with a broken school funding formula.”
“The governor has a real chance to lead by changing the school funding formula to reflect student need so that Illinois’ education dollars are spent wisely,” Manar adds.
Senator Manar is hosting a news conference Thursday (February 18) morning to address school funding reform. He has proposed legislation he says will provide more equitable funding for poorer districts.
