UPDATE - One Dead After Decatur House Fire

UPDATE - A 64-year-old man is dead and his son is in a burn unit after trying to save his dad from a fire Thursday morning. 

Fire investigators tell WAND they were called out to 30 North Drive in Decatur just after 1:15 a.m. 

When on scene, fire crews say the front of the house was on fire and a man was in the driveway saying his father is still inside. When crews entered the home and extinguished the fire, they found the man dead. 

The son of the deceased was taken to a burn unit in Springfield after attempting to rescue his father from the fire. 

The cause of the fire is not known at this time. The total damage lost in the fire is estimated to around $24,000.

Decatur - Decatur Fire and Decatur Police responded to a house fire at 30 North Drive in Decatur early Thursday morning.

A 64 year-old man was found dead in the home and another person was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries related to the fire.
