Shelbyville Chautauqua Fund Meeting

Posted: Updated:

Shelbyville - Efforts to improve the Shelbyville Chautauqua continue in Shelby County.

On March 8th, volunteers will join together to talk about new ways to raise funds for the facility. The meeting is at the Monical's Pizza in Shelbyville at 7:00 p.m. If you are interested in helping preserve the Chautauqua you are welcome to attend the meeting.

In 2014 it was announced the building will be renovated with over $89,000 will  spent on structural repairs.  An additional $27,000 to $40,000  spent for emergency roof repairs.

At one time the Chautauqua was the center of major events in Shelby County. It was used for church revivals, concerts, performances, weddings and political speeches over the years.

The  funds raised in 2016 will be used to renovate the rest of the facility.
