MEXICO CITY - Pope Francis is calling out Presidential Candidate Donald Trump on his campaign pledge to build a border wall. The Pontiff made the comments aboard the Papal Plane as he concluded a six-day trip to Mexico including a stop at the Mexican Border. The Pope says, “A person who thinks only about building walls, wherever they may be, and not building bridges, is not Christian.” Trump responded by saying, " For a religious leader to question a person’s faith is disgraceful." The Vatican clarified Pope Francis' position by stating the pontiff's motivation wasn't to jump into the U.S. presidential race; rather, his concern for migrants is a global issue.
"As far as what you said about whether I would advise to vote or not to vote, I am not going to get involved in that," Pope Francis said. "I say only that this man is not Christian if he said things like that. We must see if he said things in that way and in this I give the benefit of the doubt."
