IDOT Holds Minority Vendor Fair on Thursday

Posted:

Springfield - February marks Black History Month and the Illinois Department of Transportation recognized minority vendors on Thursday.

The governor also stopped by the minority vendor fair.

For some vendors, it was chance to showcase their talents, as well ask for recognition about minority achievements year round.

"I think we need to have them more often, not just in February.  I think we need to be able to showcase the talent going on.  I'd like to see a whole entire city to be able to come out and showcase their talent maybe at the Prairie Capital Convention Center or out at the state fairgrounds," said Loretta Johnson, a local author.

In total, eleven vendors were on hand.

Many of the vendors said that Thursday's event was another chance for people from different backgrounds to work together for the greater good.
