Trump, Clinton hold commanding leads after primaries

Posted: Updated:

Republican Donald Trump and Democrat Hillary Clinton established themselves as the clear front-runners in the race for president.

Trump handily won the South Carolina Primary. His delegate count is now up to 67. Ted Cruz has 11 and Marco Rubio has 10. Jeb Bush suspended his campaign after the primary. Meantime, Hillary Clinton beat Bernie Sanders in Nevada. Clinton's delegate count is up to 502, while Sanders' is at 70. There is still a long way to go. The eventual Democratic nominee must win 2382 delegates, while the Republican nominee must win 1237.

In his speech, Trump dismissed the notion that a shrinking field will help the establishment candidates.

"They're geniuses!" He said. "They don't understand that as people drop out I'm going to get a lot of those votes also."

The Republican Campaign heads to Nevada next. Trump holds a large lead in the polls that have been taken. Democrats in South Carolina head to the polls on Saturday.
