Mayor of Farmer City will not resign

FARMER CITY - The mayor of farmer city is not resigning his post. Mayor Mike Jenkins considered stepping down, after two council members accepted TIF District funds for their businesses, which a violation of state law.

Councilman William McKinley has since returned the $14,000.00. He resigned his position at the mayor's request, but the mayor now says he plans to reappoint McKinley to his council seat.

TIF committee member, Randy Perring received more than $72,000.00. He has been asked to return the money.
