CHAMPAIGN -- The Illini are addressing a need in their defensive front seven, reportedly adding Auburn transfer Gimel President to the 2016 recruiting class.
President is a 6-foot-4, 263 pound defensive lineman. On his Auburn bio page, he's described as a "reserve who provides depth at defensive end."
President is expected to graduate from Auburn in May, and will go to Illinois as a graduate transfer, meaning he'll be eligible to play in 2016.
According to the Post and Courier out of South Carolina, "Al Seamonson, now a linebackers coach at Illinois, recruited President to Maryland out of high school and stayed in touch with the family."
President was a 2012 Parade All-American following his senior season at Wando High School in South Carolina.
This is a couple seasons old, but here's a nice vine of new #Illini DE Gimel President standing up Derrick Henry. https://t.co/aRfYVnzbh0— Matt Loveless (@MattLoveless) February 24, 2016

The schools are swapping defensive players -- in an interesting, yet likely unrelated move, former Illinois LB T.J. Neal transferred to Auburn. Neal was Illinois' 2nd-leading tackler in 2015.
