Christian Co. Snow Emergency Level 2 Cancelled

Posted: Updated:

CHRISTIAN COUNTY – Christian County Sheriff Bruce Kettelkamp reports he has cancelled the Level 2 Snow Emergency for the county.

Illinois Route 29 and US Route 51 in Christian County are now open with wet road conditions, along with patches of slushy snow remaining on the roadway. Illinois Route 48 is passable, but it is still snow covered and remains very hazardous in many areas between Taylorville and Harvel.

Illinois Route 104 is still closed between 800 East Road and 960 East Road. It is expected to be closed for another 2 to 3 hours. A jack-knifed semi, along with 15 vehicles, are still blocking the roadway.

All Christian County township and county roads remain hazardous, especially the east and west roads.

Sheriff Kettelkamp reminds motorists to use extreme caution and be aware of possible black ice when driving this evening.
