Christian Leaders Gather in Springfield

SPRINGFIELD – Today, Christian leaders are coming together at Saint Anthony Greek Orthodox Church of Springfield. They will be praying for those suffering all around the world.

Bishop Demetrios of Mokissos, Chancellor of the Greek Orthodox Metropolis of Chicago will be taking part, along with clergy from the Roman Catholic Diocese of Springfield, the Illinois Conference of Churches and the Historic Grace Lutheran Church.

Father George Pyle says “The Greek Orthodox Church has had a long and vibrant history for advocating for people who are suffering, through the examples of great Saints and modern leaders of the Church.”

Bishop Demetrios says, “While it may seem like we in the United States have little ability to change matters in the Middle East and elsewhere, I am convinced change can be achieved through added education and attention to the problem.”

The event is free and open to the public, tonight at 6:30, at Saint Anthony Greek Orthodox Parish, 1600 S. Glenwood, in Springfield.
