Part Of I-57 Closing This Afternoon


EFFINGHAM--Illinois State Police say a portion of Interstate 57 will be closing this afternoon at 1 p.m. I-57 from mile marker 177 (Neoga) to mile marker 184 (Mattoon) will close.

Police say the closure is necessary to repair transmission lines across the interstate that were damaged during Wednesday's winter storm.

Both northbound and southbound traffic will be rerouted onto IL Rte. 45 at Neoga (Exit 177) northbound, and at Mattoon (Exit 184) southbound.

Ameren says the line repair may take up to two hours.
