IDNR plans 'Earth Day in the Parks"

The Illinois Department of Natural Resources is inviting school children to spend “Earth Day in the Parks.”

The event “Earth Day in the Parks” involves students and their teachers taking part in “natural resources stewardship activities such as planting native trees and wildflowers, building and installing nesting/roosting boxes, removing invasive exotic species and building brush piles for wildlife” according to information from the DNR.

In Central Illinois, the event is being held at DNR Headquarters in Springfield on April 21. Students from grades 3 through 12 will be able to plant native wildflowers.
