Champaign police investigating motor vehicle theft

CHAMPAIGN - The Champaign Police Department is investigating a motor vehicle theft that happened between the evening hours of February 12 and the early morning hours of February 13.

Champaign police say a red 2001 GMC Yukon with Illinois license plates "P385225" was reported stolen from the 500 block of North McKinley in Champaign.  Authorities say the vehicle was recovered from a storage shed in Sadorus, Illinois on February 24.

Police say the wheels and tires had been stolen and replaced with a different set, and that numerous stereo and other electronic items were also stolen.  Additionally, the license plates for the vehicle are still missing, and the vehicle had sustained new damage.
