Springfield Airport sees increase in passengers


SPRINGFIELD - Abraham Lincoln Capitol Airport in Springfield sees 5.5 percent increase in passenger traffic in 2015.

        Mark Hanna who is the Executive Director of the Springfield Airport Authority says the passenger traffic seen in 2015 marks the highest seen in a decade. 183,830 passengers used the airport in 2015. Allegiant flights to Florida saw the biggest increase last year. Allegiant plans to extend its seasonal service to Florida this year.

  American Airline flights to Dallas-Fort Worth saw a drop of nearly 4.4 percent. United flights to Chicago were up more than 10 percent.
