Dream of Citizenship Comes True for Many Friday

Posted:

Springfield - For many immigrants in America, the dream is to one day be a legalized American citizen.

53 people are now naturalized U.S. citizens following a swearing in ceremony in Springfield on Friday.

Thirty of those new citizens were from Springfield.

Many sworn in said that it was a dream come true.

"Our kids were born American citizens and this was like a life-long dream and it's coming true today," said Ankur Ngrecha.

Fernando Benitez added, "I feel a little bit more powerful because I have the same right as everybody else."

Many of the people sworn as citizens said that they're looking forward to voting in next month's primary races.
