Arson Believed Cause in Two Pana House Fires

PANA – More than 30 firefighters put out 2 neighboring homes after they were set on fire late Friday night. 

Pana Fire Chief Rod Bland told WAND that around 10:00 p.m., fire crews were dispatched to the 100th block of West Orange Street to put out a house fire. When they arrived crews noticed the house directly next door was also on fire. It took 2 hours to completely put out both house fires.

Authorities believe it was arson. Both homes were vacant and had been for a while. 

Fire Chief Bland also said that there were foot tracks discovered leading up from the alley to both homes. 

The fire is still under investigation the public is encouraged to call local authorities with any information at 217-562-2141.
