SPRINGFIELD - The Illinois Department of Agriculture is inviting citizens to taste, sample, and purchase items provided by more than 70 local businesses at the Illinois Products Expo on March 5.

According to IDOA Acting Director Raymond Poe, Illinois ranks first in the nation in food processing sales, and the state's number two manufacturing activity is food processing.  Poe is also encouraging citizens to attend the expo to see what Illinois agriculture has to offer.

Among the products being displayed this year are fresh meat products, gourmet seasonings and sauces, homemade jams and jellies, beer, wine, ice cream, cheeses, and much more.

The Expo will be held at the Illinois State Fairgrounds on March 5 and 6, and will open from 10:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. on March 5, and from 10:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. on March 6.  The price of admission is $5 per person, with children 10 and under being admitted for free.
