Central Illinois McDonald’s Operators Donate Coffee To Military Personnel

DECATUR – Owner-operators from local McDonald’s restaurants throughout Central Illinois have donated over 566,000 cups of McCafe Coffee during the second annual “Buy One. Give One. McCafe Coffee for Our Military” program.

In 2014, local owner-operators in the Peoria / Bloomington and Central Illinois area donated more than 400,000 cups of coffee and over 5,000 handwritten letters from McDonald’s customers and area schools that were included in care packages for military personnel.

During the “Buy One. Give One.” Program, local owner-operators match every cup of coffee sold at McDonald’s restaurants throughout the Central Illinois area. Active and veteran military members, as well as first responders in communities nationwide, receive the McCafe Coffee and other gifts as a result.

Local owner-operator Gary Birschbach says McDonald’s partners with Operation Gratitude for this program.

“Providing this donation to our military is just a small token of our appreciation for everything they do for us,” Birschbach says.

In 2015, the program ran from November 2 – November 15 and incorporated over 7,000 handwritten letters from Central Illinois area schools to accompany the care packages. Active and veteran military members, along with first responders, will receive those care packages throughout 2016.
