Senator Dick Durbin Bill to expand Substance Abuse Treatment

CHICAGO - U.S. Senator Dick Durbin has introduced a bill to expand access to treatment under Medicaid for substance abuse treatment.

Senator Durbin says, “Too many substance abuse centers do not qualify for Medicaid because of outdated understanding of addiction which restricts access to care."

Sen. Durbin joined doctors and substance abuse counselors at Haymarket Center in Chicago to announce his legislation. The bill would allow 2,000 more Medicaid beneficiaries in Illinois to access substance abuse treatment each year.
