Chick-fil-A to return to Springfield after two decades

Posted: Updated:

SPRINGFIELD – Chick-fil-A will be opening one of its newest franchises in Springfield on Wabash Avenue after being absent from the Capitol City for two decades.

The restaurant will open on March 10, and officials say this is the 2,000th restaurant location overall. To celebrate this milestone, employees will be giving away 2,000 of its signature Chick-fil-A Sandwich outside the restaurant, which is opening at 2431 Wabash Avenue. This giveaway will begin at 10 AM and continue until supplies run out or 2 PM, whichever is first.

Officials say the sandwich giveaway is one of several events planned to mark the chain’s opening in Springfield. The first 100 eligible adults through the door on the grand opening morning will win free Chick-fil-A for a year. A complete list of the rules and requirements can be found here.

The line for the promotion starts at 6 AM, Wednesday, March 9. According to Chick-fil-A officials, this is due to a history of many customers arriving 24 hours in advance.

If there are more than 100 people in line at that time, a raffle will be held to determine the 100 who will stay on site for the next 24 hours. If there are less than 100 people, officials will continue to register participants until the count reaches 100. Prizes will be awarded around 6 AM on Thursday, March 10.
