MCCD hosting boater safety education class

Posted: Updated:

DECATUR - The Macon County Conservation District is inviting central Illinois residents to participate in a boater safety education class on March 15 and 17.

This class, sponsored by the Illinois Department of Natural Resources, will be held from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. both nights at the Rock Springs Nature Center.  Participants between the ages of 12 and 18 who complete this course will fulfill a state requirement of possessing a valid Boating Education Certificate of Competency if they operate a motorboat unaccompanied by someone at least 18 years of age.

All students must attend both classes and pass a written test in order to receive their certificate.  This course is free and open to the public, but you must register online by March 14.
