Central's Tim Finke Makes Rivals.com Top 75 List

CHAMPAIGN - Already a hot commodity in basketball recruiting nationally, Champaign-Central sophomore Tim Finke's name came up in another high-profile ranking.

Finke is ranked No. 37 in the Rivals.com Top 75, released Friday. He is a 4-star recruit according to Rivals, and the top prospect from the state of Illinois in the 2018 class.

This winter, he jumped into Scout.com's Top 25, coming in at number 23.

It's already been a hectic recruiting process for the Maroon sophomore. Finke received an offer from Ohio State in January, when Buckeye coach Thad Matta attended a practice in Champaign.

"I'm taking it all in," Finke told WAND in the hours after the Ohio State offer.  He said he recalled his brother Michael going through the recruiting process. Michael is currently a redshirt freshman at Illinois.

"I've kind of learned how to handle it a little more than other people might be able to. I've seen him talk to the coaches, I know how to talk to them.  I know how to talk in the interviews and things like that, so it's been really cool, and I look forward to the next few years of it, too."

Finke will lead Central against Apollo Conference champ Effingham in a 3A regional final Friday night in Mattoon.
