Danville Authorities Release Identity Of Woman Found Dead

DANVILLE – Director of the Department of Public Safety in Danville, Larry Thomason reports Danville police are investigating after a woman was found in the river at Ellsworth Park.

The woman pulled from the Vermilion River is identified as Emily Morrison, 27, of Danville. A preliminary autopsy was performed Wednesday. Final autopsy results to determine her cause of death are pending after toxicology tests and microscopic studies.

Thomason says emergency responders were notified at about 3 p.m. on Tuesday, March 8, that a woman was in the water at the park and appeared to be in distress, according to the individual who called 911. Authorities arrived to find the woman in the North Fork River, west of Logan.

An officer went into the water and was assisted by another officer on the bank in pulling the woman out of the river. Thomason reports a Danville Fire crew began resuscitation attempts, assisted by Medix Ambulance personnel.

Morrison was transported to Presence Hospital where she was pronounced dead.
