Champaign Co. Sheriff’s Office make arrest in Kingsway Dr. shooting

Posted: Updated:

CHAMPAIGN – Champaign County Sheriff’s deputies arrested a man suspected of committing an attempted armed robbery and discharging a firearm in the 1500 block of Kingsway Drive early Wednesday morning.

Deputies were dispatched to Kingsway Drive at 12:40 AM on Wednesday, March 9, for a reported shooting. When they arrived, they found an uninjured victim, who promptly identified the shooter as Joshua Terrell Davis. While the victim was filling authorities in on the circumstances that sparked the shooting, deputies located a spent shell casing in the roadway.

Champaign County deputies located Davis at an apartment on Dale Drive and arrested him at 1:31 AM.

While investigating the apartment, deputies recovered a handgun believed to have been used in the crime and matching the caliber of the already recovered shell casing.

Davis is currently on Mandatory Supervised Release (Parole) from the Illinois Department of Corrections for Champaign County case 2012-CF-1881. An IDOC Parole Hold warrant has been issued as well. This investigation is ongoing, and we will provide updates as they become available.
