Fundraising Effort Underway For Arts Council

Decatur – The Decatur Area Arts Council has launched a new fundraising effort for the month of March.

Arts Council Executive Director Jerry Johnson told WAND’s Doug Wolfe donations to the arts council are tax deductible.  Donations can be mailed or dropped off at the Arts Council at 125 N. Water Street in Decatur.

Eighteen community groups receive thousands of dollars in arts grants.  Over 7,000 local kids attend fun and educational show at the Kirkland Fine Arts Center through the Arts Council Performing Arts Series for Students (PASS) program. 

The Arts Council is supporting several upcoming events:

  • “Earthen” will be at the Anne Lloyd Gallery at the Madden Arts Center at 125 N. Water Street now through March 29th.
  • Scherer & Co. Cabaret will feature contemporary Broadway hits and old standards Friday, March 18th.7pm-9pm at LOFT 125 on the 3rd floor of the Madden Arts Center.Admission is for adults 21 and over.The cost is $10 per person.
  • Delbert McClinton with Special Guest Joanna Connor will perform at 3pm Sunday, March 13th at Lincoln Square Theatre.Tickets are available at the Arts Council.Advance tickets are $30, at the door $35.
  • In June, the Arts Council will host an exhibit on Cuba in the Anne Lloyd Gallery.
