County Market in Girard set to reopen after massive fire

Posted: Updated:

GIRARD - A central Illinois business that was destroyed in a fire last year has been rebuilt, and is getting ready to once again open its doors to the public.

Officials say the ribbon cutting ceremony for the new County Market building will be held at 5:00 p.m. on March 30 in Girard.  The former building, and only grocery store in Girard, burned to the ground as a result of a devastating fire last May, forcing other residents to travel to other communities for groceries.

Some of the store's employees were able to keep their jobs by relocating to other County Market locations.

We will provide more information as it becomes available.
