Pay Raise Coming To Central Illinois Walmart Employees
SPRINGFIELD---Walmart says more than 7,600 Walmart and Sam's Club employees will receive a pay raise beginning March 10. The company is crediting the pay increases as part of a $2.7 billion investment in higher pay and improved training.
Walmart associates are also eligible for quarterly cash bonuses based on the performance of their particular store. The company says associates across the country have earned more than $550 million in bonuses, including $27 million in Illinois.
Here is how the pay increases break down:
*All associates hired before January 1 of this year will earn at least $10.00 an hour.
*New entry-level associates hired after January 1, 2016 will continue to start at $9.00 an hour and will move to at least $10.00 an hour after successfully completing the company's new retail skills and training program known as Pathways.
*Associates already earning more than $10.00 an hour will see their annual pay increase begin March instead of waiting until their anniversary date.
